Bare fiber connectors

Pass-through connector for "bare" fiber are devices for quick mechanical connection to optical fiber (single-mode or multi-mode) with primary coating of 250 μm or buffer coating of 900 μm. The main application is incoming inspection of the optical cable and temporary restoration of the operability of the optical line. They are reusable fiber optic connectors. BFAF adapters open up new possibilities. They are designed for temporary termination of bare fiber for measurement testing.

Adapters are available for FC and SC connectors. Pass-through connectors consist of a connector of type SC, FC, LC, etc., and a special clamping device used to hold the fiber in the buffer coating.

Installation procedure for fiber adapters:

Remove the insulation from the fiber and prepare the cleave with a cleaver. Press the button, insert the optical fiber into the connector until it stops, and release the button. After these actions, the end of the optical fiber should protrude from the core by no more than one fiber diameter, which is approximately 125 μm. Also, during installation, it is advisable to have a kit for cleaning the adapter and connector cores, which includes 8 pieces of calibrated metal micro-wire with a diameter of 125 μm and a length of 50 mm, and special paper discs with a sticky surface for convenient use.
